At Hazleton Art League the Empty Bowls event drew visitors to the Hayden Family Center for the Arts where 20 gallons of soup from local chefs fed guests for a $20 entry. Agudas Israel Synagogue in Hazleton celebrated its centennial with a Sunday luncheon and dinner attended by visitors from other synagogues. Debb ie Walke, president, noted generations of members and founders who built the Grecian style 1923 building with a 600 seat sanctuary and stained glass featuring the Star of David. Howard Narrow spoke on the bimah symbolism and a W shaped blessing, while two hand woven paintings donated by Betty Brenner were presented to officials for the anniversary.
