Edwin Gibbs writes from San Diego in mid December about a 16th division review, his new mustache after a hospital stay, and wearing gauze masks. He notes likely no Christmas travel due to funds and outlines hopes to return to Tuscan and visit Stilwell if possible, signing as "your baby boy."
The Youth's Companion promotes a budget Christmas gift, offering 52 issues for 2.00 and a 1919 home calendar plus 1918 issues, with an optional 4 McCall's Magazine fashion numbers for 2.50. Grace Richmond's Anne-Exter serial begins December 12. subscriptions may ship to two addresses.
In December 1918 Representative W W Hastings writes to Stilwell editor J W Patton thanking him for courtesies and noting wartime collaboration. He encloses a 1.50 check toward the editor’s subscription and wishes a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Hastings commends Patton for informing the public about World War I causes and need for preparation.
In response to influenza and bad weather the official Red Cross membership drive deadline is extended to January 10. The State Council of Defense orders the County Council of Defense to publish names of families not fully subscribed and to send a list of noncontributors to the historical society.
Pvt. George Hopper writes to Miss Mary Hopper from somewhere in France on November 4 1918. He recalls going over the top and driving enemy forces back noting gas shells and digging a dugout. He mentions a delay in letters and closes with love to his sister and family.

Frank Kinzle, a baker, died of heart failure at his bakery around noon Monday after briefly delivering buns to the front and returning to the oven. Funeral by Rev. Snell. burial at New Hope on Christmas afternoon.

A World War I letter from Guy Harrison dated November 16 1918 reports he is in hospital after being shot in the foot, notes six weeks of treatment, expects to return to his company soon, and expresses longing for family and home. He sends greetings to his mother father Kate George and others and asks for news before returning home.
The unit eden Wark campaign reports new figures updating last week totals. Sanders Whitmire district adds $9.45 to reach $107.85 in total. Green district adds $15 to reach $108.80 in total.

The Cherokee Emigrant Council calls all Cherokees by blood to Stilwell Oklahoma on Saturday for a meeting about a matter involving about 8 million dollars. If men cannot attend, wives may sign for them. everyone who has filed applications should sign. Benjamin Paden will arrange all matters.
The casualty list shows several Adair county soldiers severely wounded overseas. Names include John A. Allen from Westville and John Scott from Stilwell along with Hummingbird Adair from Stilwell. Mr and Mrs John Chastain are spending the holidays with friends at Spiro.
