Stamford Outstanding Citizen Awards Winners Named

At the Stamford Chamber of Commerce annual dinner three residents received the Outstanding Citizen Award. Mrs. Jarrell Sharp, John Harrell, and Clements O Richards were honored for community service. Reagan V Brown urged residents to love and promote their town, while Dale Glosom entertained. New officers and directors were announced, including Mrs. George Pryor as president.

Tri County School Office Opens in Old Bank Building

The Tri County Education Cooperative opened offices in the former First National Bank building in Stamford. Thirty two staff will operate the office with Pete Lollar of Anson serving as director, coordinating programs for pre school children across Jones Stonewall and Fisher counties.

Four Square Gospel Church will observe its 25th anniversary on Sunday October 3 with charter date 1946. Founding figures Mary Fulton J Craig Bigg Gulf States supervisor and Mrs Bigg of Dallas among former pastors expected. Reuben Taylor serves as pastor. Rainfall exceeds average as September totals rise

Rainfall last week pushed September to 4.64 inches and the year to 27.65, above the 25.03 inch annual average. Fields remain waterlogged slowing absorption and halting most farm activity. Some grain is being cut in higher sandy spots while lighter areas plant fall small grain. Readings by observer M. D. Thompson record 0.04, 1.27, and 1.74 inches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
