Bloodmobile set to visit Stamford for blood drive
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Stamford on October 24 from 3 to 7 at St Johns United Methodist Church with a 90 pint quota. City leaders discussed sustaining the blood program as Red Cross representatives and John Martin outlined plans to form a local chapter and a new organization to push donor efforts before the date.

Man held in break in of Lueders bank
A 22 year old former Lueders resident, Pedro Soliz Jr now of Plainview, is jailed in Jones County on burglary charges after a break in at Farmers State Bank in Lueders. He allegedly attached a chain to a door knob and his 1966 Chevrolet to pull the door open. No theft was found and bank president Wayne Smith said nothing appeared disturbed. Soliz, arrested for driving without a license, faces grand jury action with investigators from the sheriff’s office, Stamford police, the Rangers, and Abilene FBI agents.

Stamford received the second largest sales tax check this week for the second quarter of this year. The $15 123 99 voucher was exceeded only by the quarter ending Dec 31 1971 with 15 926 21.
