Serum Rush Fails to Save Man After Snakebite
An airplane carried serum from San Antonio to Rule in a bid to save Jerry Frenchy who was bitten by a rattler while fishing on Paint Creek. He died at 2 p.m. Sunday before the plane arrived two hours and twenty minutes after departure. He leaves a wife and several children. The Barrow Furniture Company prepared the body and interment was in Rule.

Communities Preparing For Stamford Fair
The Howard community of Haskell County plans to exhibit at the Stamford Fair October 14 to 16 after a meeting with local leaders and Stamford Chamber of Commerce secretary Hamilton Wright. Post and New Hope in Jones County also intend to exhibit. A poultry fanciers meeting is likely to be held to discuss the poultry show's role in the fair. Jones County's Joe Winter No 1, the county's first major oil well, produced 950 barrels in 24 hours ending Tuesday at 6 p m local time. Leasing nearby is brisk with land within three miles selling for 50 to 300 dollars per acre. Joe Winter sold a quarter of his royalty to Landreth Oil for 29 500 dollars after the well was swabbed near the bottom.
