Registration at Stamford High School through Wednesday reached 348, up from last year as principal O M Isbell notes higher enrollment. Junior high totals fell slightly due to Washington School inclusion, with Oliver Street primary at 254 and Reynolds Elementary down to 298. Overall system enrollment rises from 1163 to 1180 pupils.

Bunkley Dies at 76 Rancher From Rockdale Community
Vestus F. Bunkley aged 76 a longtime Rockdale rancher east of Stamford died Tuesday night at his home. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Stamford at 2 30 p m Thursday officiated by Rev Jack Southerland. Burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery with Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Born July 6 1889 in Farmersville he married Josephine Miller December 10 1910. They moved to Rockdale in 1919. Survivors include his wife two sons W F Bunkley Jr and Miller both of Arlington four grandchildren and a sister Mrs T J Elliott of Fort Worth.

Funeral Tuesday at Sweetwater with Dr James M Robinson pastor of First Baptist Church officiating burial in Highland Cemetery Stamford under Kinney Funeral Home direction. Born in Tennessee 1907 he moved to Nolan County 1908 and to Sweetwater 1926 Survivors include his mother two sisters a brother and several nieces and nephews.

A Stamford Memorial Hospital district delegation will travel to Austin on Sunday September 12 for a Hill-Burton funds hearing. Eugene McNeely Home Damaged By Fire
A stubborn fire burned the Eugene McNeely residence at 603 Gould Tuesday night for two hours. Discovered at 8:05 p m by a neighbor the blaze had already taken hold. No one was home. Fire Chief R K Rowland said the fire started on the back porch likely in an old couch. Damages totaled several thousand dollars.
