Grand stands at Hamlin will be enlarged for the December 6 bi district game when Hamlin Pier Pipers meet Chillicothe. In prior week action Monday Moguls beat Albany Lions 12 to 0 and Bull defeated Rule Bobcats on a muddy field.

National Guard Mobilized at Stamford Armory for 10 Days
Company K 142nd Infantry mobilized Monday morning to train at the Stamford armory for ten days before leaving December 4 for Camp Bowie Brownwood for a year’s service. Six new men joined the Stamford unit bringing strength to 75 of 114 authorized. Dr. Ike Hudson designated contract surgeon with Stamford Sanitarium for hospitalization. Virgil S. Stanley hospitalized with chest condition. The unit’s long roster includes First Lieutenant Blu ford W. Feris and Sergeant Sterling L. Dodgen among officers. Captain Frank M. Locke leads the company with a history of rapid promotions and Fort Benning training. Rains Here of Great Benefit To Wheat Crop In Stamford

Emmett Lovell Killed in Baird Truck Accident
Emmett Lovell of Baird died after wind caught timbers he rode on a flat bed truck and hurled him onto the cement. He died in a Callahan county hospital minutes after the freak accident. he was a nephew of Mrs. L. A. De wees of this city.

Stamford Clean Up Plan Aims At Downtown Trash
Stamford's fall cleanup started slowly due to bad weather but is expected to gain momentum as the week proceeds. The program targets downtown trash elimination and better conditions citywide with fire hazard checks led by Dick Rowland and a school-child distributed aid kit. Half Holiday Granted for Stamford Public Schools
Stamford Public Schools will dismiss Thursday afternoon with morning classes as normal. The Haskell Stam ford football game will be played at Haskell in the afternoon. Recreation program pauses for 10 days in Stamford

Dinner Honoring J B Miller on 89th Birthday Celebrated
J B Miller of this city marked his eighty ninth birthday Sunday at the home of his son J L Miller and Mrs Miller in the Corinth community. Attending were Mr and Mrs B McLaughlin Mr and Mrs W W Miller and Mr and Mrs Lloyd Adams of Stamford Mr and Mrs C T Overby of Clyde Judge and Mrs Otis Miller and daughter Elizabeth Ann of Anson and Mr and Mrs J R Miller. Miller came to Jones county years ago from Floyd county and ran a grain store until 1919. He was born November 26 1841 in McMinn county Tennessee and served as bugler in the Union forces during the Civil War. He has 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The youngest great grandchild is Martha Kay Sadler due to be a year old in December.
