House Destroyed By Fire Early Tuesday
A fire about 2:30 a m Tuesday engulfed a house near the compress. Firemen reached the scene to find the structure a mass of flames and, with no local water plug, allowed the fire to burn out. The property belonged to H R B Talbot and had been occupied by Vasco Guillet and family until Monday. The origin is unknown.

Mrs. Maggie Culwell Slover 62 wife of the Stamford district Methodist elder died Saturday night in Clarendon after attending the Northwest Texas Conference. Funeral services were held in Clarendon and Weatherford with Rev. C. R. Hooton officiating. Burial followed in Weatherford. She had lived in Weatherford 19 years and earlier helped develop Clarendon College. Survived by her husband and six brothers.

A twenty three minute film titled Goodbye Gangster presents the Urschel kidnapping case in detail. It covers events across five states, the kidnapping plot, the trial, sentencing, and judge’s remarks, and marks the first use of a camera in a real courtroom during trial. Kimbrough starred as the Haskell Indians defeated the Bulldogs 28 to 0 on the home field last Friday afternoon. Four Arrested In Theft Of Radio From Bennetts Home
Local police recovered a portable Philco radio and clock believed stolen from Steve Bennett’s home Saturday between noon and 6 30 pm. Four suspects Pete West Hank West Scotty West and Joe Taylor were arrested after Bennett motorists identified the radio. The items were found at West’s residence and a car topcoat taken from J H Kinney of Haskell was also recovered.

Skull Fracture Suffered By Local Boy After Horse Throw
Ben Clifton ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Mart Clifton of Haskell sustained a skull fracture when thrown from a horse near his home about 8 am Thursday. He rode to school then was injured as the horse shied from a pile of rubbish. He was taken to a Haskell doctor then moved to Stamford Sanitarium where X ray confirmed the fracture.

Two Model T Thefts Reported Within Two Days
A Ford Model T coupe owned by K. A. Little of Avoca was stolen from the square in Stamford between 8 30 and 9 30 p m Saturday after Little, who had parked near the post office, returned from shopping to find the car gone. A second Model T Ford coupe owned by Woodfin Phelps was stolen from in front of his home Thursday night and remained unrecovered Friday morning.
