Santa Claus Opens Stamford Christmas Shoppe Season
Santa in cherry red plush suit will officially open Stamford's 1949 Christmas shopping season Friday November 25 at 2 30 PM riding a fire truck. He will greet children and distribute candy with Stamford Jaycees, then return Saturdays before Christmas and on the final three days before Christmas as a special treat. Marvin Hinds chairs the retail trade committee and the Jaycees sponsor window decorations while the Garden Club handles outdoor home decorations. Christmas lights will be turned on the first Saturday in December and stay through the holiday season.
