Reverend Stewart to Close Four-Year Pastorate at St John’s
Rev. R. A. Stewart will end his four year term as pastor of St. John's Methodist Church this Sunday. His farewell address was given last Sunday morning. Rev. J. H. Hamblen will preach both services next Sunday and preside at the Northwest Texas Conference gathering in Pampa starting Monday. The choir will perform before Sunday night’s sermon, and city churches will join the Methodist service as a tribute. The church stewards continue conference year duties and push to finish the budget drive with meetings planned this week.

WTCC Directors to Attend Stamford Luncheon Saturday

Institute Closes After Western Chuck Wagon Dinner
The co operative teachers institute for Jones Shackelford and Kent counties closed its two day session with a chuck wagon dinner. About 350 teachers registered and praised Stamford hospitality. West Texas Utilities Company supervised the lunch with W G Owsley and R B McDonald assisting. A Swenson Land and Cattle Company chuck wagon and ranch hands from Flat Top Ranch added to the scene. Stamford Firemen's Band provided music.

Walter V. Keith Dies After Long Illness
Walter V. Keith died at his Stamford home last Friday after a lengthy illness. Funeral rites were held Friday at 4 p.m. at the Penick-Hughes Chapel with Rev. Fred Rogers officiating. Burial followed in Fort Worth with Masonic Lodge pallbearers and honorary members listed. Keith, born June 3, 1867 in St Louis, moved to Stamford in 1906 and worked as a passenger conductor for Wichita Valley Railroad. Survived by wife Byrdie Yeates Keith, Stamford. daughters Marita and Josephine, Fort Worth. son Walter Jr., Fort Worth. brothers C. R. Keith, Fort Worth, and Victor Keith, Austin.

St Johns Methodist Sunday School defeated Haskell Sunday School last Sunday to end a two week attendance tie. The final score was Stamford 300 to Haskell 200 with an overall attendance of 655 for the year. The Men's Brotherhood Class led the day with 123 attendees.

Joint Revival Is Quite Successful
A union revival meeting led by Rev. M. B. Harris and Rev. Fred S. Rogers at the Presbyterian church concluded with an evening service. Harris of the Central Christian church and Rogers of the Central Presbyterian church preached, expressing satisfaction with the results and describing the event as a large spiritual fellowship. A young woman joined the Christian church after presenting her profession of faith during the Sunday morning service. Local talent organized the choir and provided all special numbers, and all expenses were funded by Sunday offerings.

American Legion Sets Armistice Day Plans for November 11
The American Legion completed plans for Armistice Day activities on November 11. A 11 o’clock observance will precede a Stamford versus Anson football game, followed by a Legion Home banquet at 7:50 p.m. A 10:30 a.m. gathering at City Auditorium precedes a 10:58 a.m. volley and 11:00 a.m. taps in a silent tribute. New officers and appointees will be introduced after the evening program.
