Wheat Harvest Starts Across Area After First 1993 Load
Wheat harvest began in the Stamford Sagerton area as combines rolled on small plots. E H Boedeker delivered a first 1993 load to Kimbell Milling Co earning 1.90 per bushel plus a 25 dollar hat. The Early Triumph wheat weighed 80.2 pounds per bushel with 14.2 percent moisture. Boedeker said more cutting would occur later in the week.

Baseball Season Opens in Less Than Two Weeks
The season starts May 27 as 270 to 290 boys prepare to participate. Freshman Division adds two new teams with about 100 applicants. Pee Wee League will include 190 players. State to Ask Bids In June for Highway 180 Work
County Judge Leon Thurman said bids will be sought in June for work to improve Highway 180 from Stamford to Leeders. Deeds for the freeway to Anson from Stamford will be ready within a week, but an appraiser must value the needed land before signatures can be obtained. Weapons Display Slated Saturday By Guard Unit
A downtown display of heavy weapons and artillery will be set on the downtown square Saturday May 18 by the local National Guard in observance of Armed Forces Day. The exhibit includes a 155 millimeter howitzer five ton truck jeeps and various radios and small arms. Guard members will explain equipment operation and the public is invited to view all day.
