All Day Meeting Of W M S Big Success At St John’s
An all day meeting of two W M S circles at St John’s Methodist Church delighted attendees. Morning program led by Mrs Burl McClellan featured music by M D Smith and devotional by Dr S Slover. Members introduced themselves with membership ranging from two weeks to 35 years. J H Rutherford spoke on the organization’s aims. A covered dish lunch followed, with afternoon music by Mrs Hooton. The Stamford High School track team won the county meet in Anson last Saturday with 72 points. Cole was high point man with 14 points and Gamblin had 13, with numerous Stamford athletes earning places in sprints, jumps, throws, and relays. The relay quartet of Bushell Hall Young and Cole finished first in 4 minutes 7.1 seconds.

A new oxygen tent of the latest design has been received at the Stamford Sanitarium and is now in use. The tent serves heart disease patients and those with breathing difficulties. It features inlet and outlet for fresh air and regulated temperature. According to F. E. Hudson the tent can be set to any oxygen level required.

Pneumonia Patient Improves At Stamford Sanitarium
Claud McKinzie seventeen son of W H McKinzie of Peacock has shown marked improvement after his transfer to Stamford Sanitarium Tuesday. He had been critically ill with pneumonia and rushed to hospital as his condition worsened. The new oxygen tent, used for the first time this week, is credited with much of his recovery as his family remains at his bedside.

Mrs. Cordelia McDaniel Dies in Plainview Area at 47
Cordelia McDaniel age 47 died March 21 at her son Bill McDaniel’s home in Plainview after pneumonia following influenza. Born Cordelia Nin mow in Oklahoma, she married Tim McDaniel in Denton and lived in Jones county and Oklahoma City before moving to Plainview. She leaves five sons, a father, a brother, two sisters, three grandchildren, and was buried in Alton cemetery Denton County with N Kinney in charge.

Nightwatchman Bound as Bank Safe Is Burglarized
Bandits bound the nightwatchman at midnight and cut through the vault at Citizen's State Bank in Knox City early Thursday, escaping before dawn with about $15,000. Police chief G. G. Flournoy of Stamford was alerted around 7:30 a.m. The robbers cut telephone lines, delaying alarms. One woman is suspected to have helped. The nightwatchman could not identify the assailants and the party likely used two autos.

Aspermont Man Run Over by Truck at Farm
E. C. Marr, 56, of Aspermont, was injured when the truck he and his son Calvin were starting rolled forward at his farm west of Aspermont. The right shoulder was broken as the front wheels passed over him before the team could be halted. He was taken to the Sanitarium Tuesday morning.

Lueders Man Critically Hurt In Truck Crash Near Fort Worth
Montie Smart, 28, of Lueders, was in critical condition at Baptist Hospital Fort Worth with internal injuries and a severed arm after his cattle truck crashed into a cotton truck on the outskirts of Fort Worth. Raymond Tonrey, also of Lueders, was trapped in the cab but escaped with minor injuries. Smart underwent a five hour operation for arm and lung injuries and remained serious by Wednesday evening.

Clarey Home Burns After Two Alarms In One Night
Early Thursday the Clarey home at 700 North Webb street was destroyed by fire after two alarms. An initial blaze caused by a defective oil stove was contained by 8 p m but a second alarm at 12 30 a m found the house engulfed despite prompt arrival of the trucks. Fire Marshal Meetker suspects embers from the first fire started the second. The dwelling was insured for 400 and no one was in the house during the second blaze.
