J E Bunkley 77 Dies Suddenly In Stamford
J E Bunkley a longtime resident of the area aged 77 died suddenly Saturday morning at Stamford Sanitarium after a hospital stay for examination and treatment. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 PM at his son’s home with burial in Highland cemetery. six grandsons served as pallbearers. He was born in Greenville Alabama December 6 1859 and moved to Farmersville Texas at age 11. He married Mary Eliza Henslee July 22 1880. she died in 1935. The family lived in Farmersville before moving to Stamford in 1915. five sons and a daughter survive along with numerous grandchildren and siblings.

The Odd Fellows Lodge will host an Easter egg hunt for Stamford children at 3 p.m. Sunday on the west shore of College Lake. A live white rabbit prize will be awarded to the child who finds the prize Master egg. Many eggs will be hidden. Committeemen Warren B. Presbyterians Plan Easter Sunrise Service at Central Church
Easter sunrise service opens at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev M F Rogan pastor announcing start time. New London School Set to Reopen After Fatal Blast
New London Texas March 24 surviving students and teachers will resume classes Monday after a 10 day break caused by a blast that killed 455 schoolmates last week. The school board ordered classes in the grammar school and other buildings and planned to rebuild the wrecked high school promptly. Superintendent W C Shaw who lost a son in the explosion received a vote of confidence.

Burns Fatality: 4 Year Old Jack Reeves Dies at Sanitarium
Funeral services were held at Weinert Baptist Church for Jack Reeves 4 son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Reeves of Weinert. He died at Stamford Sanitarium Thursday night March 18 from burns suffered when his clothing caught fire after gasoline exposure while playing in the yard. He was born March 26, 1933 in Weinert and survived by parents two sisters Theda Edith and brother Edwin grandparents Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Reeves of Sunset and Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Eaves of Weatherford.

A fire damaged the Weat Texas Cleaners and Hatters on East Hamilton Street about 9 45 pm Wednesday. The plant owned by W D Perkins suffered heavy heat damage with south windows and doors destroyed. Repairs were planned and service expected to resume in four to five days. A separate Buick bus owned by Murphy Bros Bus Lines burned at 12 40 am Tuesday, with upholstery scorched and the engine halted by the blaze.

County Library Building to Rise in Anson County
A rock veneered county library building will be built in Anson County as a WPA project sponsored by the Christopher H. Freeman Chapter DLAR and the Tuesday Study Club of Anson. The $7,000 structure will use materials from the Ferrell estate and be funded by multiple Anson civic groups with DAR providing a portion. The project, approved by WPA in 1935 and now awaiting release after plan corrections, aims to provide library service for all parts of the county.

Clary Grandson Among Injured in New London Disaster
In New London a school explosion injures Clary grandson and several others. The Clary family identifies the injured as 15 year old Moore, and the mother Mrs Clary confirms the fatality of a teacher. Lee and Calvin Carte brothers, both attending the school, were outside the building at the time. Carl, believed deaf, sustained a fractured skull and other injuries but is now in recovery.

First place honors at the Pat Stock Show in Fort Worth went to two carloads of steers from this section. Roy Arledge’s A Stock Farm carload won in the 1050 to 1200 pound class and a G C Carothers Farm carload took top in the over 600 pound feeder class. Arledge Stock Farm also claimed the top dressing conage honor at Fat Stock Show. It may be a month before the year’s overall winner is known.
