Sixth Grader Wins Local Spelling Bee Elimination
Edith Hudson sixth grade daughter of Dr and Mrs J F Hudson of Stamford won the Jaycee sponsored spelling bee in early elimination rounds to the national contest in Washington DC later this year. Paula Fuqua earned second place. Over 20 students from Reynolds Oliver Elementary and Stamford junior high attended. A district bee is set for Stamford High School March 24 at 1 45 pm before area finals in Wichita Falls.

J. T. Brown Sr. Buried Sunday In Stamford
Funeral services were held at St. John's Methodist Church in Stamford for John Tee Brown Sr. a retired bottling plant manager. He died at his son’s home near the Stamford airport after a two week illness. He married Minnie McCracken in 1903. Surviving are four sons, a daughter, and nine grandchildren. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery.
