Burglars Strike Five Stamford Homes Saturday Night
Five eastern Stamford homes were entered Saturday night with thieves escaping with watches and small cash amounts totaling a few dollars. Mayor Warren B. Tayman suffered the heaviest loss a rare Swiss watch valued near 500 dollars. Police hunt professionals from outside Stamford for the sequence of break ins on East Reynolds street and nearby East Wells Avenue and East Boulevard.

Burning Gas Well East of Stamford Draws Attention
A gas well 23 miles east of Stamford, Reynolds No. 1 of Brazos River Valley Gas Co., blew in as a gasser and caught fire about 5 PM Friday. Friction ignited the gas while lowering casing, with flames visible from Stamford until the fire was put out at 7:30 PM Saturday. The well lies in Section 103 on the Indianola Railroad Co. survey, drilled 13 feet above the gas sand at 1500 feet.

Ed Macon’s rented model A Ford coupe stolen over a month ago was found abandoned on a road between Birmingham Alabama and Carrolton Georgia. Chief Flournoy says interstate theft may be a Federal case and is coordinating with authorities. Macon plans to retrieve the car in Stamford.
