Area Council Of Boy Scouts Holds Executive Meeting
The Chis olm Trail Area Boy Scouts of America held an executive meeting in Stamford on Tuesday with Judge Jas. P. Stinson presiding. Members elected to the Area Council and committee chairmen were announced, and Abilene offered a 50 acre camping site near Buffalo Gap for camps and grounds supervision.

Intermediate School Dominates Multiple League Events
Jones county schools held an advance meeting in Hamlin to eliminate events for the district meet. Stamford Intermediate School girls won the only championship with a track team led by Anna Prichard and Hazel Lee Johnson. In field events Bernice Morgan led the baseball throw with 165 feet, while Mary Gregory won the basketball throw for distance. The Intermediate girls defeated Hamlin 32 to 14 in playground play. Hamlin beat Stamford 8 to 6 in boys play, with Stamford’s team roster listed.

Stamford Receives Over An Inch Of Rainfall Lifts Outlook
Stamford recorded about 1.02 inches of rain this week after a Sunday night shower and a heavier Tuesday morning rain. The rainfall improved conditions for crops and livestock with farmers plowing and preparing land, hail noted in some areas and optimism rising across the trade territory.

Fritts receive death penalty in Rochester killing
Bill Fritts is sentenced to death by jurors in Rochester after a four day trial for the October killing of Druddtes Hamilton and his son Farle. The defense urged insanity citing past “queer” acts and headaches, while witnesses testified to Fritts’ violent behavior and suicide attempts. WTA Man Killed in Week's Truck Wreck Near Lagerton
Albert J. Spoon, 21, was instantly killed when a West Texas Utilities truck overturned on highway 18 near Lagerton as he and his brothers were riding in the back. George Spoon survived with noncritical injuries and was confined in Stamford Sanitarium. The crash, blamed on a brake rod, happened as the crew of six returned from a line assignment. Funeral services for Albert Spoon were held at First Baptist Church in Stamford with burial in Highland Cemetery.

Corinth School Child Dies After Automobile Crash
Andrew Owen Jeffertoe eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs A J Jeffertoe of the Corinth community died in Stamford shortly after midnight from injuries after he was struck by a passing car on Highway No 30 near the Corinth School. The child, a pupil at the Corinth school eight miles south of Stamford, was crossing the highway when he darted from a car his brother had boarded. The driver 8 Black of Delcon Black stopped and aided him. He died at Stamford Sanitarium. Funeral held at Fanston Baptist church by Rev W C Moffet with interment in Bethel cemetery.
