Mrs Clay Herring, who had been receiving medical treatment in the Bramford Sanatorium, was dismissed Thursday. Her daughter Mrs John A Wood and Mr Wood with son Jessny came to be with her and Mrs Wood returned home Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Ray Scurlock Found Dead in Lagerton
Mrs. Ray Scurlock, 36, was found dead by her husband at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at the service station they operated opposite Reunion grounds. An inquest returned a verdict of death by self inflicted gunshot wound. The couple moved to Lagerton in 1948 from the SMS Ranch after living in Stamford. Children are Judy and Joe Ray.

Plane crash kills Levelland druggist Tom Upshaw Jr
Levelland druggist Tom Upshaw Jr and Dr M G Kennedy died in a Sunday night plane crash. The two men were traveling from Odessa to Levelland aboard Upshaw’s aircraft when it wrecked. bodies found Monday. Upshaw, a Stamford native, formerly lived in Stamford and worked in the local bank and drug business. Funeral services were held in Levelland and Stamford with local arrangements by Kinney Funeral Home.

The Stamford Rotary Club will grant a $100 scholarship to one Stamford High School senior this year with future plans for two winners. Lions Hear Of Abilene Center Work At Meeting
Shelley Smith, director of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center of Abilene, told Stamford Lions Club members Tuesday night that the center treats 179 children weekly and is funded solely by gifts and civic support. The center serves handicapped children up to age 21 with physical, occupational, and speech therapy, audiometric testing, and parent education. therapies are provided by fulltime professional staff.
