Lent services continue across Stamford churches

Several Stamford area churches continue mid week Lenten services at 7 p.m. The March 2 service was at Central Presbyterian Church with next week at St. John United Methodist. Offerings go to world hunger programs. The series includes St. Ann’s Catholic, Bethel Lutheran, and First Baptist. Easter sunrise service in Bulldog Stadium features participation by First Baptist.

Stamford Students to Attend UIL Contests in Lubbock

A group of 11 Stamford students will travel to Coronado High School in Lubbock on Saturday March 5 for a math and science UIL meet. Court ruling cites technicality in hospital district case

Texas Supreme Court upheld a 11th Court decision favoring taxpayers in a long running Stamford Hospital District suit. Officials say the ruling rests on a technical point about certification and not merits. A rehearing motion is pending as the case may return to District Court this summer.

Local clinic expands services via CAP outreach in Stamford

In Stamford, two Community Action Program representatives spoke at City Hall on Tuesday to publicize services from the local Family Planning Clinic. They highlighted food stamp outreach, energy conservation, youth summer employment, and MET programs for migrant farm workers with job training and emergency aid. Retail Trade Committee sets meeting in Stamford

The Stamford Chamber of Commerce Retail Trade Committee and Board of City Development will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday March 7 at 3 30 p m in the city hall conference room. Stamford students top academic meet with multiple wins

Nine Stamford students won individual honors at the Stamford Academic Meet last Friday. The town earned two team awards in ready writing and journalism, led by Leigh Davenport winning first in ready writing. Gay Lynn Cook and Cathy Jones tied for top in journalism with Cook taking first in editorial and headline writing and second in feature writing, while Jones earned third in feature writing and fourth in headline writing.
