Texas Cowboy Reunion Opens June 30 for Four Days

The Texas Cowboy Reunion will run four days starting June 30 with a nightly show except for a July 4 matinee. Directors met Saturday to approve the schedule and format for the event, noting a change to a night show overall.

Funeral service for Mrs. Joe W Lindsey, 35, was at East McHarg Baptist Church with Rev. L D Hull officiating. Burial in Highland cemetery. Kinney Funeral Home in charge. She died Friday at 12:30 p.m. at her parents home, Willie Mae Blancet, Jewitt born 1916. She is survived by husband Lindsey and children Helen Hughes Kenneth Hughes J W Lindsey Jr Preston Lindsey, parents Blanets, two sisters Ruby Little Velma May, six brothers. Annual Jaycee Style Show Showcasing New Spring Fashions

Sanford's second annual Spring Style show will be held Thursday night March 8 at 8 o clock on the Grand Theatre stage with eight Stamford merchants presenting the latest fashions. About forty models will display outfits from Cobb's Department Store D and H McDonald's Straus Hassen's Atha's Personal Shop J C Penny Company and B and HT. A two hour program includes the family film Gasoline Alley starring Jimmy Lyndon. Grand manager Sanford Hodge Jr announced.

Local Men Attend Hearing On Proposed Water Bill

City Manager Grady Bowdry and city attorney Henry Andrews returned from Austin after testifying on a bill that would nullify municipal water rights under Wagstaff law. Andrews attended a League of Municipalities attorneys meeting, while about 10 hours of testimony, mostly against the proposal, preceded the bill's referral to a House subcommittee for further study.

Kinney Withdraws From Chief's Race

Kinney withdrew from the race for chief of police on Wednesday. He had announced candidacy but said he will devote full time to the funeral home. H. H. Corley, his partner in Kinney and Corley Funeral Home, sold his interest Tuesday.

City Fire Insurance Credit Cut by 15 Percent

Beginning March 1 Stamford's fire insurance credit will fall from 20 percent to five percent per the State Fire Insurance Commission. The 20 percent credit has been in effect since 1947. Heavy fire losses in the past year prompted the rate change.

Dimes Campaign Nets 8114 As Jones County Drive Ends

Jones county polio drive totals 8114 raised with proceeds split between local needs and the National Foundation. Stamford chair John Reese reports the campaign funded wind up efforts by local women and notes additional gifts from Lueders Avoca and Hawley. First Baptist Plans Opportunity Sunday Fund Drive

Arledge Elected New Rotary Club President in Stamford

Mrs. A. M. Conant Graveside Rites Slated Thursday

Graveside rites for Mrs. A M Conant will be held at Highland cemetery Thursday at 4 p m. in Stamford. She died Wednesday morning in Midland where she and her husband had lived.
