Western artist Charles R Sawyer, a Winters native now based in Blackwell with wife Alta Jean and children Cody Mitchell and Connie, is featured in the Cowboy Country Museum for July. Self taught, he began painting young, worked on west Texas ranches, runs an art gallery in Del Norte in summer, and has had works shown at venues from El Paso to Brownwood and Breckenridge. His paintings are collected nationwide with pieces in Germany and Mexico.
