Fair Weather Lets Ericksdahl Farmers Replant and Harvest
Farmers at Ericksdahl use the good weather to replant cotton and weed fields by hoeing, with cotton already up and maize and other grain growing well thanks to moisture and heat. Holcomb's Liquor Store Fire Damages Building
Firefighters battled two blazes Sunday afternoon in Holcomb’s Liquor Store on the Haskell Highway and a storage house in the 100 block of West Moran. Fire Chief Dick Rowland said damage estimates would not be issued since the store is outside city limits. The living quarters adjacent to the liquor store were heavily damaged and a grass fire caused by burning trash also prompted containment efforts. A water main break in the town’s southern part spilled thousands of gallons, complicating fire suppression.
