Windshield farmer captures Stamford aristocracy and rural needs
The piece credits Stamford with a class of wealthy motorists termed windshield farmers who live lavishly with little labor, then shifts to the need for better rural telephone service and REA power, arguing farms require modern communications. It condemns wartime and peacetime casualties from health defects, urging communities to build health centers and nurse services, and schools to teach health and safety. It calls for government and industry action to improve safety and prevent accidents.
