Mrs. Warren Hilliard was bitten on her right hand by a pet coon in Haskell. She received treatment at Stamford hospital and a tetanus shot. The item also notes funeral attendance for Gaston Bond and various local social updates.
Elbert Fomby sues Ben Niedecken Sr. in 104th District Court seeking 2000 dollars for land damage and 200 dollars for fence removal. Fomby alleges Niedecken erected a fence on his property line and built an earthen dam that backs water onto Fomby’s land, causing erosion.
Farmers cultivate cotton and maize thriving while small grain is combined. Local youths attend Girls Camp at Leeders with Kathy Pritchard and Karen Long as Blue Birds. Camp counselors Mrs. Bill Pritchard and Shelia Youngquist lead arts, crafts and bugle activities. Numerous visitors from Angleton, Fort Worth, Abilene, Tulsa, Odessa, Stamford and Hamlin call on relatives here Sunday.
Abilene residents hosted visitors from Rotan Lamesa and Midland during the week. Stamford and Eastland ties appear as relatives and friends gathered for meals and visits. A Stonewall County Junior Leader Club team presented a demonstration "Cost Concept" with Nancy and Marvin Vahlenkamp as student participants and their mother Mrs. Vahlenkamp as coach.
Nancy and Marvin Vahlen kamp of Old Glory competed in a statewide farm and ranch management demonstration contest at the Texas 4-H Roundup at Texas A&M University on June 23. They earned first place in District Three.
Jessie began work at Jones County Implement in 1948 as a shop helper and has since served in every department. He has worked as parts clerk salesman and manager with a specialty in service and repair work. The native of Wanker Hill northwest of Stamford is married with three children Choya Charles and Twyla. Over 16 years he has attended all local equipment service schools and followed farm tractors as they advanced.
