Friends of Attorney General James V. Allred plan a greeting when he speaks Saturday at 10 30 a m on the south lawn campaigned for his candidacy for governor. Cecil Jennings organized a luncheon and Allred is viewed as a leading gubernatorial contender in the first primary.
Evening services at the Methodist Church feature Rev. C. R. Hooton. Carl May and Wanda White highlighted last Sunday’s song service while Junior Church plans show Gweneth Flem among children. The series on What We Can Believe continues Sunday with Jesus the Christ. The week includes Northwest Texas Assembly at McMurry College with Dr. Geo. Slover noted. An Independent Revival under Bro. Fincher near the church invites all to participate.

Wheat growers in Stamford territory expect about 75000 from this year’s crop as harvesting advances under dry conditions. The Stamford Mill and Elevator Co has prepared for 90000 bushels and Thursday’s market opened at 78 cents per bushel. Harvesting should finish within 30 days with 3000 to 4000 bushels already reaching markets. Yield averages 13 bushels per acre, with some fields at 28. About 60 carloads are to be shipped from Stamford this season.
A 1934 tax bill dispute escalates to a fatal incident as two brothers from Mackinaw are hanged after a confrontation over debts. Local officials report the event and ensuing investigation.

Mrs A J Swenson remains in critical condition after a heart attack Monday with a brief improvement Tuesday and relapse Wednesday. Dr F E Hudson reports the case as serious. she is confined at her East Oliver street home.
Report states a white man accused a Negro woman in a West Acre Avenue building theft at about 4 am Thursday, claiming $23 was taken from his pocket. A Black man found with the woman during arrest was also jailed.
The Jones County farming plan shows $117,706.62 due as first payment under Bankhead allotment. County Agent C. C. Jobson notes 18 643 586 pounds of untaxable cotton based on a five year average. Total five year allotment amounts to 1087 county acres and rental of $235,411.94 with half payable in December. White farmers hold 150 corn hog contracts totaling $19,000. all contracts approved.
