J L Jordan of Stamford died in Germany May 1945 from injuries in an automobile accident. He was 23, served five years in the field artillery, overseas since January 1944. His mother Mrs Jack Aderholt of Pampa and siblings Marvin and Jack Jordan in service are noted. sister Edith Kace lives in Kansas City. Telegram dated May 22 announced the loss.

Miss Virginia Ramey with the American Red Cross has arrived in London and will be stationed there about three months. Her parents, Mr and Mrs FB Ramey, learned this week from a letter. She trained at American University Washington DC and did field work in Washington and Aberdeen Maryland before going overseas.

Naval machinist mate reports after D-day delay
Herman Raphelt, motor machinist mate third class, has been home on D-day delayed orders to the Naval Repair base in San Diego. He completed the Naval factory Diesel school course in Cleveland and will report to San Diego for duty with ship repair ashore or afloat. He previously served two and a half years in the Pacific.

Vernon D Hart Post 100 American Legion of Stamford will sponsor a drive to place government furnished grave markers at Highland Cemetery for veterans buried without markers. C B Smith led the meeting naming a committee to locate graves and compile veterans' names. The markers will show name, rank, unit, birth and death dates. The Legion handles applications and marker placement. Delegates and alternates to the 17th District war conference in Breckenridge on June 16 and 17 were announced.
