The largest gathering of Andress and Medford relatives met on Friday July 18 at Mrs Sam Medford’s home in Howard community Haskell county. Over one hundred relatives attended many had not met 10 to 12 years. Activities included dinner at California creek games swimming and fishing with numerous named families listed from Howard De Leon Hamlin Breckenridge and other nearby towns.

Jim Young To Speak At City Auditorium Friday Afternoon
James Young of Kaufman will speak at the City Auditorium Friday at 2 30 in behalf of his candidacy for governor. He said in Arling ton on Wednesday that support for both Ross Sterling and Clint Small was swinging to his camp. He named E V Hardwick of Stamford as a former Small supporter who switched to Young. He was to speak at Vernon Thursday afternoon and Seymour Thursday night, then proceed from Stamford to Eastland Friday night.

Mrs. M. E. Hamilton Pioneer Hotel Operator Dies
Mary Elizabeth Hamilton age 82 died unexpectedly at her Stamford hotel on South Anson Street Wednesday morning. She had lived in Stamford about 20 years and was born in Mississippi on April 19, 1848. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Reeves of Anson at Funston with Kinney Brothers in charge. Survived by two sisters and five brothers from multiple states.

Haskell County Road Contract Bids Opened By State
The State Highway Commission in Austin will open bids soon for grading and drainage on Highway 1 through Haskell County from Stamford to the Stonewall county line a distance of about 11.506 miles and for Highway 50 from the Jones county line near Stamford to Haskell about 14.006 miles.
