Civic leader Charles Brewington dies in Dallas
Charles Brewington of Dallas former Stamford civic leader died Monday at 4 40 am in Dallas where he had lived since 1929. Funeral service was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery. He was mayor and Chamber of Commerce president in Stamford and later ran a Dallas lumber business. Survivors include four daughters and two sons.

Chest X rays for those 15 and older will be available all day Thursday at Lone Star Gas Company from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The county survey continues Saturday at Carmichael Motor Company in Anson. The first county x ray from Hamlin on July 2 drew 381 people. Stamford’s survey opened Wednesday, with 245 x rays by 2:30 p.m. Arnold Delgado led the unit with Joe Cavazos assisting.
