The 47th Texas Cowboy Reunion and Oldtimers Reunion wrap with 250 registrants by Friday and more expected. Friday features hymns, ragtime, a chuckwagon BBQ, and socializing. Officers elected include J C Coleman as president and J Van Thornton as first vice president. Davis Jones becomes secretary-treasurer. Memorial service honors seven deceased members. A clean up drive for College Lake park is planned Thursday night at 8 p.m. to prepare for the Little League All Star game on July 19. All parents of Little Leaguers and interested persons are urged to help in the park cleaning.

Stamford Art Exhibit Honors July Artist of the Month
Stamford selects Rena Bailiff as Artist of the Month for July her oil paintings displayed at the Chamber of Commerce open house in the Cowboy Country Museum. Bailiff, a Crowley native, studied art from childhood and later pursued painting after moving to West Texas in 1924 and refining skills at Mc Murry College. Her works have appeared at local businesses Abilene chamber events and county fairs in Jones Haskell and Taylor counties.

Local man shines at AQHA Show during Texas Cowboy Reunion
Bobby Wedeking of Stamford captured grand champion stallion with Go Andy Go at the American Quarter Horse Association Show run with the Texas Cowboy Reunion over the July 4 weekend. He also earned second in Mares foaled 1975 with Sure Andy Fancy and second in Mares of all ages with Nightshirt's Bug. Jet Taylor ridden by Paula Keifer of Hamilton won Champion Registered Youth. Joanna Tippen took Overall Champion saddle in Open Youth.

The Stamford summer recreation program starts Monday July 11 at 8 am at the City Pool. Raymond Hughes leads with Virginia Haterius assisting. Activities include swimming golf and tennis for ages 6 through high school. Sessions run 8 am to noon on weekdays for four weeks ending in August.
