Vacation Bible School Holds Commencement at Central Presbyterian
Central Presbyterian hosted the Daily Vacation Bible School commencement Friday. Ninety six children enrolled in four groups kindergarten primary junior and intermediate. Diplomas were given to daily attendees and a free will offering funded the two week program with handwork displays and book case exhibits.

Sinclair Well On Nail Ranch Draws Interest
The Caton well at Swensondale near Avoca resumed drilling after five weeks, reaching about 1700 feet. The Sinclair No 1 on Nail Ranch in Shackelford County showed initial oil gas and water flow, later mainly water, at 1420 feet, with a reported 19 to 25 barrels per hour possible and about 1,000,000 feet of gas. the test continues as deeper drilling proceeds.

Ho Williams, 72, died Tuesday morning while visiting his son in Fort Worth. Acute indigestion was suspected. Body sent to Stamford for burial. funeral held Wednesday at the Church of Christ conducted by J. D. Harvey and Wo DD Black. Survived by wife, one daughter Mee J. Dulaney, and five sons Isaac, Ledford, Dave, Adam, and Dee Williams. Friends from Gorman attended. Barrow Furniture and Undertaking Co. managed arrangements.

Youth Drowns in Texas Rescue Attempt Near Stamford
Clifford Owens age 12 of Post drowned in the Clear Fork at Lueders while trying to rescue three Little girls from deep water. His father Mr Owens nearly drowned in the effort. The incident occurred near a waterworks intake about eight to ten feet deep. Several others assisted including Dr Ray of Abilene and Jack Cook of Stamford. Despite CPR attempts, Clifford died about an hour and a half after being pulled from the water. Clifford was buried at Highland Cemetery, a grandson of J W Mercer. Independent Day accidents in the Stamford area were reported the same day including injuries at Lueders park and other unrelated events.
