Texas Cowboy Reunion Opens In Stamford This Week
The Texas Cowboy Reunion Association of Old Time Cowboys meets in Stamford for four days of events led by secretary treasurer Mrs. Frank Cannon. Activities begin at 8 p.m. with registration and include hoe down dances, chuck wagon dinners, a Memorial Service, and the Old Time Fiddlers Contest with prizes of 50 to 15 dollars.

Stamford hosts the 37th annual American Quarter Horse Association event with Open Youth Activity and AQHA Youth Activity shows starting today. Competing horses vie for saddles, trophies, ribbons, and cash prizes across halter, cutting, Western pleasure, rein ing, pole bending, and barrel racing.

Community Worship and July 4 Rodeo Events in Stamford
A Stamford community service on July 4 to honor the nation will begin at 11 a.m. in the high school auditorium with a program led by Dr. I F Hudson and speakers Charles Stenholm Vera Clay and James Self. The day also features a Texas Longhorns parade, Hardin-Simmons University horses, a WBAP stagecoach, rodeo performances, Don White Band, and local judges and entertainers for the events. Bells of liberty tolling, parades, and noisemaking are planned for nationwide observance timed with Philadelphia 2 p m EDT. The day's festivities conclude with trick riding and roping acts by Bill and Nancy McEnaney.

Western Art Exhibit Opens with Collector's Preview
The 3rd annual Western Art Exhibit and Sale opened last night in the John Selmon Memorial Art Gallery with a Collector's Preview. Twenty six artists exhibited works in oil watercolor charcoal tempera and bronze. A Bicentennial project sent over 100 Longhorns from San Antonio to Lubbock and they stayed in Stamford for the preview. Proceeds go to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene. Stamford Art Foundation members meet July 5 at 1 30 p.m. in City Hall Council Room.

Stamford Summer Youth Program Schedule
A Stamford summer youth program runs July 5 to August 4 from 8 am to noon, Monday through Friday. Activities include swimming lifesaving arts and crafts painting tumbling trampoline tennis golf folk dancing and team sports with groups by age. Director Raymond Hughes and assistant Donna Rainer lead for ages 6 to 17.
