Texas TEXAS to offer multi year license plates in 1975
Motorists in Texas will begin buying new five year license plates on February 3 with a heavier steel reflectorized plate and black on white lettering. A 1976 shift to adhesive validation tags will reduce future plate updates, saving about eight and a half million dollars over five years.
