Stamford women complete Red Cross canteen training class

The area saw wild changes this week with an 85 degree Sunday after a cold wave last week. A Sunday night plunge brought 16 degrees, then Monday fell further to 12 degrees above zero with sleet and snow. By Wednesday, the chill eased slightly as temperatures moderated.

American Pilots and Planes Superior to Enemy Says Riley
Lt. Chas J. Riley public relations officer of the 308th Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment told the Rotary Club that American pilots and equipment are superior to the enemy. He cited combat losses since the war began as 204 for the U S versus 928 for the enemy, a 1 to 4 ratio. Norman Gatlin outlined cadet ground training and showed two aircraft identification films.
