Accidental Shot Fatal to Stamford High School Youth

Funeral Service Held for B. Kirk Gregory at Stamford
The funeral for B. Kirk Gregory 32 manager and part owner of City Drug Store in Stamford was at First Baptist Church Sunday morning with Rev. Sam Morris officiating. A second service followed in Ballinger at 4 p.m. Burial was in Ballinger cemetery. Gregory died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage early Saturday. He leaves a wife Juanita Moser, a 21 month old son Louis Kirk, his parents, a brother and five sisters. Arrangements were by W. N. Kinney Funeral Home.

The Peacock five edged Stamford 20 to 18 on Stamford court last Friday night in a fast paced scrimmage. The Bulldogs led at halftime on defense, but Peacock surged in the third period before Stamford regained control. In the final quarter Peacock pulled ahead, then fell two points short as the buzzer ended the contest. Albany hunter survives shotgun injury during quail outing
Parker Sears, 38, of Albany, was accidentally shot in the head and arm by a companion at about 4 30 PM while quail hunting 50 yards away. Allen fired at a bird through heavy brush. Sears, in the line of fire, was treated at Albany and Stamford Sanatorium. Lead shot was not deeply penetrative. slugs were removed Saturday and Sears went home that afternoon.

In 1933 441 demonstrators produced 5 187 garments valued at 6 386 under the Jones county Home Demonstration Clubs led by Miss Sue Bon ner The group made underwear aprons dresses coats and foundation patterns and 158 women upgraded their clothing storage. 1934 enrollment shows many names from Anderson Chapel Avoca Delk Haw ley Liberty New Hope Leeders Nevida Noodle Pleasant Hill Plainview South Hamlin Swan Chapel Stith and more with plans to adopt foundation patterns and improve storage for hats shoes shelves and rods. The project will be highlighted at June achievement day and top makers will enter the state clothing contest at College Station in July.
