Stamford FFA to Clear Mistletoe Townwide as Project
The Stamford FFA chapter will remove mistletoe from trees townwide starting Thursday or Friday weather permitting. Students, led by Wel don Holbrooks and Brad Rowland, will snip and haul away the mistletoe at no charge and accept donations to support the program. Roy Craig supplies equipment for the effort.

Longtime Jones County Teacher Ida Crow Dies at 84
Miss Ida Crow 84 an early Jones county educator died Tuesday at Stamford Sanitarium where she had been a patient since January 14 1956. Born June 16 1872 in Wood County she taught at Leeders Post Oak New Hope Berryhill Anson Avoca and Spring Creek and remained unmarried. Survivors include nephews Almuth Roy and R A Yarbrough and nieces Mrs Cox Mrs Sorgee and Mrs Rush. Funeral Thursday at Central Presbyterian Stamford with burial at Spring Creek cemetery Avoca. Kinney Funeral Home in charge.

Stamford enjoyed three consecutive sunny days for the first time in about a month. The change followed a period of overcast skies, fog, and mist since late January with 3.62 inches of rainfall this year. Farmers welcomed the moisture and resumed field work as hints of a windy March appeared.

Stamford Jaycees chair Tommy Cooper reports 131 certificates issued for free polio vaccine distributed by the group. About 75 members from District 19 attended a cabinet meeting at Central Christian Church. Dr. George R. Davis presided, with Rev. James Smith hosting.
