The Texas Centennial year brings a county wide cleanup and beautification drive led by the County Federation of Women's Clubs. Residents are urged to trim mesquites plant flowers paint mail boxes and remove roadside rubbish ahead of March 2 1936 celebrations across the state including Huntsville Brenham Washington on the Brazos Gonzales Crockett and Houston.

Plaster Mill Worker Severe Injuries After Plant Acccident
Woshel Ewine, 23, of Plasterco, suffered a badly broken body in an accident at Texas Cement and Plaster Co five miles southwest of Hamlin. He was pulled into an incline belt when his arm caught in a pulley while applying belt dressing. He was taken to Stamford Sanitarium in serious condition but expected to recover. His mother Mrs. R E Ewing and relatives were at his bedside.

Mrs. M. N. Anderson Dies At Her Home North Of Lueders
Martha Anderson a Norway native died at her home five miles north of Lueders Texas after a stroke. Funeral arrangements by Kinney Funeral Home set for Friday at 1 pm in Lueders with J. C. Eubanks officiating. Burial in Funston cemetery. She born December 28 1858 and came to the U S at 27. Survived by daughter Anne Bosse eight sons twelve grandchildren three great grandchildren two brothers.

Car Overturns Near Funston Injuring Mrs Stovall
Mrs Lova Mae Stovall a Norent school teacher was injured when her car overturned about a mile east of Funston after a blow out on the left rear wheel. She was knocked unconscious and taken to Stamford Sanitarium for treatment. X ray exams were to determine injury extent. She is a daughter of Rev W G Bailey former pastor of St Johns Methodist Church.

Stamford Plans Beautification For Centennial
Definite plans for beautifying Stamford in preparation for the Texas Centennial were made by a committee of representatives from clubs civic organizations and churches at Mrs J Griffin High's home. Periwinkle lantana and flowering shrubs were selected for landscaping with evergreen and Bermuda grass chosen for church and public buildings grounds. Mrs High will sell plants at cost plus carrying charges to fund the project.

A North Swenson and West McHarg delegation urged the city council to oppose parallel parking rules on those streets. They cited congestion and a high curb hindering doors as reasons. Police and fire officials urged removal of shanties on West McHarg for fire safety. The council read a Chamber of Commerce parking resolution and set April elections.
