Stamford High Plans $300000 Auditorium With Modern Amenities
The Stamford School board approved final plans for a new auditorium to seat about 900, with offices for the nurse, superintendent and tax collector. Bids will be opened March 31 at 4 pm. The brick building on Orient Street west of the present school will have year round air conditioning and glass facades. The $300,000 bond issue carries 3 percent interest, a county bonus of over $2500 was received, and completion is targeted by Christmas or midterms.

Stamford Lions Club held a successful community auction raising over 280 dollars from about 100 donors to fund a 405 dollar resuscitator for the nursery at Stamford Memorial Hospital. Club president Charlie Henry said proceeds will cover the balance after next month’s payment. A large crowd attended the Saturday sale at the vacant McClarg Street building. Auctioneers Col.
