JRB Super Markets Buy City Grocery Stamford

JRB Super Markets of Brownwood will take over City Grocery in Stamford after purchasing the business from Bill Williams. The deal closes this week. Wayland Fuqua will manage the store with plans for improvements, a cash basis, and S H Green Stamps with every purchase.

Teakwood Manor Sold To Stamford Inn Firm

Pioneer Nursing Centers Inc operators of Stamford Inn have contracted to buy Teakwood Manor. The sale becomes effective May 1. Kay Hughes manager of Teakwood since its opening Oct 1 last year will move to Midland. Rita Hammer will become manager of the Inn. The Inns are licensed for 75 beds with 65 patients. Teakwood for 102 beds with 48 patients. both homes currently care for welfare patients.

Mrs Wienke of Old Glory Dies at 94

Lottie Wienke 94 of Old Glory died Monday at Haskell Memorial Hospital. Funeral service is Wednesday at Kinney Chapel with Rev Joe Aalbue officiating. Burial in Old Glory Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother.

Stamford Hospital Board Heads to Austin on District Bill Hearing

Stamford Hospital District board members J F West Sam Baize AC Humphrey and administrator John Martin plus financial advisor George Buescher flew to Austin to press a revised bill on county hospital districts. The Senate Public Health subcommittee rewrote proposals to form one county district with later dissolution elections and asset transfer, a plan not favored by Stamford officials.

Stamford FFA awards banquet set for Tuesday night

Lueders Lions plan community auction on May 11

The Lueders Lions Club schedules a community auction on May 11 at the club house opposite the refinery loading dock. Donations and consignments accepted with a 5 commission on large items such as plows and tractors. Proceeds fund local scholarships and eyeglasses for school children in need. Ike Hudson Elected Mayor After Heavy Runoff Vote

Stamford voters turned out in force and Dr. Ike Hudson won the mayoral runoff with 604 of 1044 votes, topping Fareed Hassen who rose to 436. In the April 3 first vote Reed had 147 and Richards 82. Canvassing will occur at the May 4 council meeting.

Rolling Plains PCA to hold 39th stockholders meeting

The 39th annual Rolling Plains Production Credit Association stockholders meeting is set for Saturday with members expected from as far as Wellington. Registration at 11 am, barbecue lunch in the school cafe, and a 1 pm business meeting in the auditorium. Lasater Hensley faces re nomination against Robert Forbis. Houston bank official Jack H. Barton will speak. Cash prizes totaling 500 dollars will be awarded based on distance traveled. May 8 Deadline For Emergency Farm Loans In Texas

Farmers in Jones and Haskell Counties may apply for emergency loans at the Farmers Home Administration County Office 316 North 1st Street Haskell Texas on or before May 8 1975. Applicants receive 1 percent interest and a loan forgiveness benefit up to 5000 for uninsured losses from drought and other disasters between January and June 19 1972.

Later time for mailing extends pickup to Abilene route

Marvin Stanford postmaster said a later pickup time for mail dispatch to Abilene has been set for Saturday and holidays. The curbline box pickup extends to 6 10 P.M. while Sunday pickup remains at 5 35 P.M. This creates a single dispatch time all week except Sunday.

Revival services at Trinity Baptist Church April 29 to May 6

Little League Baseball Opens Season Monday at Park Near Armory
