Moisture from rain and snow on Monday night and early Tuesday morning added a small measure of moisture for area wheat farmers. Show Draws 300 Entries for Stamford 4 H FFA Livestock Show
More than 300 entries expected for the Jones County FRA and 4 H Club livestock show in Stamford on Saturday at the Texas Cowboy Reunion grounds. Weldon Holbrooks and others head the event with prizes over 1000 dollars, judging by Sam Baize, J. M Asncroft, Roy Moritz, W. B. Towland and others. Campbell Colby and Frank Martin oversee divisions including fat steers, breeding beef, dairy cattle, breeding hogs, hogs, sheep and capons with prize money spread across 10 places. Showmanship awards and record-book judging complete the program with ribbons for top finishers.

Stamford Public schools will hold open houses March 3 5 and 7 to coincide with Public School Week. Olive Street school hosts March 3 while Reynolds Elementary and Junior and Senior High hold March 5 with a 7 50 pm program in the high school auditorium. The event includes tours exhibits and meetings with teachers alongside a Parent Teachers Association gathering planned for March 12.

The Stamford High gym hosted District IAAA playoffs after a five team tie among Sweetwater Lamesa Snyder Plainview and Vernon. Vernon won by defeating Snyder and Plainview while Sweetwater was eliminated by Lamesa. Local turnout was large with many out of town attendees.

New West Side Baptist Church Formed Sunday
The West Side Baptist Church was organized Sunday with its pastor and deacons to be ordained that day. Green will be ordained as pastor, with Jack K Butler and Robert McClellan ordained as deacons. The church was formerly a mission under East McHarg Baptist Church and organized now under the Baptist Missionary Alliance. The institution began in June 1991 with Green as preacher and G A Nicholson of Hoomilin serving as secretary. James Bege of Maskell presided. Mrs. C. Strauss Dies After Long Illness in Dallas Hospital
Mrs Charles Strauss longtime Stamford resident died Monday in Gaston Hospital Dallas after ten days there and months of treatment. Funeral at Sparkman Brand Dallas conducted by Rabbi Levi Alam with burial in Hilcrest. She helped run Strauss Dry Goods with her husband and was active socially. Survived by two sons, four grandchildren, and siblings.

A woman admitted February 8 with a chest stab wound underwent immediate surgery at the Stamfore Sanitarium. The surgeon opened the chest to expose the heart and closed the wound. recovery described as uneventful.
