T. C. Rice Jr. exhibited the grand champion beef heifer at the Jones County FFA and 4H Club Livestock Show in Hamlin. The champion Shorthorn earned a trophy from Sam Baize and son and $5 showmanship prize. Rogers showed the reserve dairy heifer and won $5 showmanship plus $8 first in class. Several Stamford 4H members earned cash awards. sheep and hog classes also recognized.

John Thomas Goyne, 76, of Stamford, died Tuesday at 6 p.m. Funeral Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Foursquare Church with Rev. Harold Curtis and Rev. Wilson G. Estes officiating. Burial in Highland Cemetery. Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Survived by a son T. B. Goyne. five daughters including Mrs. Fred Lawton and Mrs. Cora Askin. 19 grandchildren. 15 great grandchildren. a brother W. M. Goyne. three sisters. Born May 24, 1877, a Texas native and former farmer. lived in Jones County since 1931. His wife died in 1919. He was a Foursquare Church member.
