Lee Walker announced awards while the Exchange Club presented gold footballs and trophies to the team and coaches. Pete Andrews won the Exchange Club scholarship trophy with a 93 average, and Winfred Rest received a trophy for 93.5.

Third Victim of Auto Wreck Dies
Allie Clark, 59, of Littlefield died in Abilene hospital February 16, the third victim of a January 18 automobile crash near Anson. His wife was killed instantly and his sister Mrs. N J Lanotte of Post died days later. Clark was en route to Irving to attend Mrs. Lanotte and Clark’s father-in-law funeral when the wreck occurred.

A crowded High School auditorium saw the senior class play Make Yourself at Home last Friday. The production was directed by Mrs. Ben Cole and praised for humorous scenes and strong student performances. The evening opened with a brief band concert. Between acts Miss Mary Louise Gainer sang with piano by Mrs. B. C. C. Burrow and violin by Winifred Rucker. The boys glee club performed at the second intermission.

The town of Stamford records a four inch snowfall Monday morning adding moisture to the spring crop cycle. The event follows a lighter snow Friday and a 4.03 inch rainfall earlier last week, with a West Texas observer noting it set new rainfall records since 1885 in the area.

Oil Field Worker Burned When Clothing Catches Torch
G. W. Hill a 49 year old oil field worker was burned near Lueders shortly after midnight Sunday. He held a torch to light his work on a spudder clutch when the clutch knocked the torch from his hand and his clothing caught fire. He was taken to the hospital and is progressing nicely. The Iron Mountain No 1 O E Beck in Shackelford Jones line drilled the plug Wednesday morning and flowed by heads Wednesday afternoon. It may be acidized after the twin well 50 feet east is drilled past the present depth of 1933 feet. The test showed oil estimated good for 150 barrels a day with gas pressure. Weather caused delays across the area as other rigs in Avoca and west of Stamford continue drilling and casing work. Local offsets include Owen-Snebold No 1 Haterius Palo Pinto play and Humble No 8 Hollum near Section 190 BBB&C.

Funeral service for Judge B. B Greenwood of Breckenridge was held at First Baptist Church last Friday at 2 pm. He died in a Breckenridge hospital of a heart ailment the previous day at 1 year of age. Abilene Legion Rodeo Boosters toured Stamford Wednesday evening for rodeo promotion. Parramore post members from Abilene with the Hardin Simmons Cowboy band spoke to locals, inviting rodeo fans to Abilene for the event next week.
