Alex Moore returns to Lueders after tending his sick father in Italy Texas where his grandmother also rested. A newborn boy born February 15 to Loyd Williams and wife. Mrs Carlos Withers underwent appendicitis surgery in Stamford Sanitarium and hopes for a speedy recovery. Dan Carlson of Albany visited Lueders over the weekend with Troy. Gifford heads to Fort Worth for several months. Lueders high school staged The Winning of Joy at Swans Chapel and Nugent. Oscar Seth hosted a Tuesday night party with games and music. Mrs Henry Lieb and children from Abilene spent the weekend in Lueders. Cleburne Huston of Stamford American was in Lueders. A tent show presented Ten Nights in a Bar Room with band and crowd. Oscar Seth sprained his right wrist cranking a Ford. Andre Dillard of Abilene visiting while at Simmons University. Paul Koch and Tom Putman visited the Putnam ranch near Fort Griffin. Miss Ella La Motte of Abilene visiting sister Mrs Ethell La Motte and Mr Charles La Motte. Rev Roy Morris of Simmons University Abilene visited in Lueders. Dr R C Pender of Abilene Buckner’s Orphan Home representative preached at the Baptist church.

Ford Runs More Than 46 Miles On One Gallon Gas
T. M. Gooch Jr. wins Fort Worth Ford economy contest by driving a 1926 model Ford with Vaporizer over 46 miles per gallon on a wet, seven mile west of Fort Worth route to Weatherford and back. Grady Helm posts a nearly identical performance in an open car under adverse weather. Judges verify the run by draining the tank and sealing the hood under a government can feed into the carburetor.

Big Agricultural Meeting Draws Large Stamford Attendance
Attendance at the Agricultural Short Course in Stamford Monday and Tuesday was estimated at 4000 to 4500, making it one of the largest tours for International Harvester. Six sessions drew 300 to 1000+ attendees, with the opening and closing programs the biggest crowds. Stamford Chamber officials praised the lectures and entertainment while local students joined the opening session in force. Rural and town residents alike showed strong enthusiasm for the six sessions under IHC speakers and organizer Jack Booth.

Mrs Pauline Ross Dies at Home in Monday
Mrs Pauline Ross aged about 89 or 90 died Monday morning at her son J W Ross home after frail health. Death likely from pneumonia. Rev J McClain and Rev M B Harris conducted a service at the home. Body shipped to Dublin for interment beside her husband. Survived by son J W Ross of this city. Funeral arrangements by Penick Nughes Company.

The stock and fixtures of Peevey's men’s clothing store were bought by Weiller & Benjamin at the assignee sale Monday morning for 4500. The new owners move the store this week from Terry’s Variety to Peevey’s former location on the north side of the square. The assignee sale advertised elsewhere in this issue will start there Friday morning.
