Stamford high school senior dies from injuries after accident
Offerrell Daughtry a 19 year old Stamford high school senior died from a cerebral embolism caused by injuries suffered when struck by a car February 3. He died at the sanitarium Monday morning with funeral services at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Sam Morris and Rev. C R Hooton. Burial was in Highland cemetery with classmates as choir and seniors as pallbearers. He was born in Stamford April 22 1915 and attended local schools. He is survived by his parents a sister Frances a brother William Roland and maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs F N Hornsby of Whitney.

Alleged Head Of Swindling Ring Placed In Jail
Paul Speck of Rochester, named as the alleged head of a forgery ring, was arrested in Lawton Oklahoma and brought back to Jones county to await trial. Jim Lee Gordon said Speck confessed to forging two checks passed on local merchants. Gordon Haynes traced the car license used to cash one check, leading to Speck through his brother. A second check for 22.50 was cashed by R. B. Buie. Three youths arrested Sunday on accomplice charges are out on bond.

J. R. West, 47, of Aspermont died at the sanitarium here Thursday morning February 15 at about 4 o'clock of heart complications. He was admitted the afternoon before in critical condition.
