The Missionary society of St Johns Methodist church held Monday afternoon with Mrs. J H Rutherford presiding. Mrs Emma Hardin opened with prayer for higher Christian standards. Mrs Dale Middleton delivered a Bible lesson from Mark two about new standards for the new day. The program featured Missionary Voice items on old and new versions of service and highlighted the First Womans Work and women such as Juliana Hayes and Ellen Morphis Wood. The Texas Baptist Conquest campaign enters final collection stage led by General Director George W. Truett. Aimed at 1.5 million dollars in cash and pledges by next November, funds will reduce debt for 17 Baptist institutions including Baylor University and Simmons University, with 3,000 churches statewide organized to participate. Local church funds plan to be given next Sunday morning as First Baptist backs the effort. last year raised about 2,100 dollars with expectations of growth.

P M White aged 82 died at his East Hamilton street residence Friday at 4 30 pm after months of illness. Born in Birmingham Alabama he lived in this community sixteen years. He leaves his wife and ten children. Funeral Saturday at the home with Rev R A Stewart officiating and Spring Creek cemetery near Avoca the burial site. Survivors include daughters and sons in Dallas San Angelo De Leon Snyder Avoca Stamford Hereford Slaton Fort Worth and others with kin aiding arrangements by W N Kinney and Mr Petty of Haskell.

Death of Swede community farmer Almquist noted in Stamford
H E Almquist a prominent Swedish county farmer died in Stamford after a recent illness. Born in Sweden in 1867 he immigrated to the U S in 1900 and settled in the county around 1907. Survived by his wife seven children three brothers and a sister the funeral was held at his home and the Swedish church with interment in the church cemetery conducted by W N Kinney of Stamford Undertaking Company.
