Citizens to Hear Report Friday On Water Supply for Saverton
Plans to secure an adequate water supply for Saverton move forward with a Friday 7 pm meeting at the schoolhouse where engineer Biggs of Biggs and Mathews will outline remaining needs. The Sagerton Water Supply Corp has set up a 40 year FHA financed project with $100,000 available and a 30 cent per 1000 gallons rate from Stamford. The proposed 12 mile trunk line begins near Stamford Cotton Oil Mill, with initial 2 inch pipe, then 4 inch, then 3 inch, possibly adding a final 2 inch tie into town. The plan foresees 300,000 gallons monthly and notes some customers along Highway 380 may join while Tuxedo-area customers could withdraw.

Gifts Honoring Dr Hudson Start Hospital Memorial Fund
A memorial fund to improve Stamford Memorial Hospital was started this week in tribute to Dr. Fred Hudson who was part owner and practice at the hospital from 1921 to 1946. FE Upshaw, secretary of the foundation, said the fund will create a lasting memorial institution. Dr. Hudson died Wednesday after a heart attack.

Vernon Stewart reports a major polio inoculation effort completed with 448 people receiving Type II Sabin oral vaccine in the final makeup clinic. The campaign began last fall with 6,149 receiving Type II, and additional rounds brought totals to 4,603 across 448 in the final makeup and 725 Tueder residents.
