Wendeborn Park funding forwarded for review
Stamford has learned its Wendeborn Park development funds request has been sent to the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation in Albuquerque for review and approval. The city sought 23271 dollars for pool filter work, park lighting, baseball field upgrades, two tennis courts, a picnic area and playground facilities. The notice states Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in Austin forwarded the application on February 10.

Man Dies in Oil Mill Accident Near Stamford
W. G. Smokey Johnson, 48, of Rt. 3 Stamford, died after suffocating in the hall at Stamford Cotton Oil Mill at 5 50 a m Wednesday. He was born October 10 1926 in Ellis County and was a World War II Navy veteran. He moved to Stamford from Hillsboro in 1954. Surviving are six brothers Leroy and T J of Hillsboro C H of Temple Prime and Roosevelt of Portsmouth Virginia Joseph of Dallas and two sisters Mrs Ida Mae Young Hamlin and Mrs Alberta Taylor Albuquerque New Mexico. Funeral arrangements are with Kinney Funeral Home.
