Wofford 47 a Stanton native active in Stamford business circles died Monday at 4 18 am in Stamford Memorial after a three week illness and a year of declining health He owned Wefford Motor Co and previously operated grain elevators trucking service stations and a Chrysler Plymouth agency in 1962 He served as a deacon and was a member of the Stamford Lions Club He was born January 26 1913 in Stamford and married Betty Conner in 1955 Survivors include his wife son Dale his parents J J and Mrs J J Wofford siblings and two grandchildren Funeral services were held Tuesday at Ghent Street Church of Christ with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery Kinney Funeral Home directed the arrangements

Five people were indicted on felony charges by a 104th District Court grand jury after a one day session on February 1. Indicted are Jim P. Logsdon of Abilene and John A. Lima of Abilene for second offense driving while intoxicated and John Albert Lundgren of Oines County for cattle theft. Aubrey McNabb of Houston charged with burglary. No bills were returned against John Lopez for check swindling Mershel Roberson of Weatherford left by false pretext and Carl Pruitt of Stanford for burglary.
