Mrs Emma Dial dies at 93 in Stamford
Mrs Emma Keen Dial 93 died Saturday afternoon in Stamford Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday at Kinney Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Boles officiating and burial at New Hope Cemetery. She was born May 12 1876 in Tuscaloosa Alabama and moved to Jones County as a child. Her husband Ant Dial died in 1947. She lived in Stamford Inn five years. Survivors include sister Salome Keen of Stamford. Pallbearers named Bill Lawson Joe Benton John R Rice Ben Loop J L Woodson Harry Lavender.

The First Baptist Church in Stamford marks its 70th anniversary this Sunday February 22 with a morning worship message by church historian Sam Crawford followed by a fellowship luncheon. Flu Outbreak Affects Stamford Adults and Businesses
Incidence of flu continues to be felt in Stamford with Memorial Hospital admitting several patients Tuesday. Administrator John Martin noted a tapering trend but adults are more affected than children and some teachers are out while student attendance remains near normal. The Atlas missile site near Corinth was sold to a Baytown man for 5600. The 14.38 acres include one sheet iron building with some right of way easement. About 12.86 acres were deeded to Stamford school district after the site was abandoned and later returned to the government due to distance from the high school.
