New Grants for Electrifying Farms in Texas
Rural Electrification Administration loans totaling 530000 are approved for farmer cooperatives in Hunt Rains and Hopkins counties to build 575 miles of rural electric lines serving 1876 customers. Projects cover parts of Hunt and Rains counties and eastern Collin area with power purchased from Texas Power & Light and Greenville plant. Loans run 20 years at low interest as part of a Roosevelt program to electrify farms nationwide. Texas totals reach 2250 miles serving 7500 farms with more funds requested in Washington.

Mrs. Agnes Ludie Bolch Cheyne of Jayton 23 died at Stamford Sanitarium near midnight Tuesday after illness since Sunday. Funeral held at Jayton Baptist Church with Rev. Fred McPherson. burial in Jayton cemetery. Survivors include husband Tom Cheyne five brothers and three sisters.

Flu Stricken Family Escapes Fire At Symonds Place
A northwest Symonds Place residence owned by G C Carothers burned early Monday, leaving the kitchen and dining area damaged and the roof partially gone. Mrs Barton woke others as Mr Barton, ill with flu, was aided to safety and later hospitalized. Cause under investigation with wiring or porch trash noted. A nearby haystack fire in the 800 block on South Ferguson Street, fed by wind, burned about 10:30 a m but caused no further damage.

Former Residents of Tuxedo Attend 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mrs C R Has and daughter Mrs C D Hopkins and her son Joe Carroll Hopkins of Stamford and Mrs Haymes son Lee Haymes of Monday traveled to Meridian last weekend for the golden anniversary of Mrs Haymes sister and her husband Mr and Mrs E Gardner. Fifty direct descendants and other relatives attended. The Gardners lived near Tuxedo for many years, moving away about 15 years ago.

John Nowlin Shot in Front of Stamford Home
John Nowlin of Stamford is in Stamford Sanitarium with bullet wounds suffered Monday afternoon while parked in his car in front of his home east of Stamford in Shackelford County. A 19 year old brother in law was arrested and later released on bond. Nowlin drove to the hospital after being shot and picked up two youths to take him there. His right shoulder is badly shattered and he has several flesh wounds. car displays multiple bullet holes.

A 1986 survey shows acid treatment of oil wells has grown from a niche practice in 1983 to a major industry. Muriatic acid use reached about 12 million gallons with roughly 56 000 wells treated, driven by Houston area producers and Texas sources.
