Stamford volunteers including sixth grade students and members of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Stamford Lioness Club will canvass homes Monday 5 to 7 p m distributing literature and collecting donations. They meet at St John s Methodist Church at 4 30 p m with envelopes left for absent residents all to support the Heart Fund tackling heart disease and related conditions.

A winter cold front brought sleet and freezing rain to Stam ford Monday night and continued into Tuesday morning. Warmer temperatures by Tuesday afternoon reduced the icy precipitation with misting rain on Wednesday. County Court Hears Six Cases Monday
Six cases were disposed of in Jones County Court Monday by Judge Leon Thurman. Three bonds were forfeited and three guilty pleas were heard for driving while intoxicated and bad checks. One case is set for trial Friday morning, possibly before a jury.

Local Lumber Firms Plan Consolidation in Stamford
Two long established Stamford lumber firms, the R. B. Spencer Lumber Co. and the C. D. Shamburger Lumber Co., will consolidate into one operation serving the Stamford area. The Shamburger firm was acquired by National Building Centers, which also bought Spencer on Dec. 28, 1964. The new consolidated operation will open within 60 to 90 days at 202 E. Rotan, the former Shamburger site, with the National Building Center name.
