The Irma Brown Trio will perform at Stamford High School auditorium on February 28 as the second of four Stamford Rotary Club concerts. Tickets are 2.50 at the door, or 6.50 for the full series. after Feb 28 no season tickets are sold. The trio will improvise with audience input and play diverse jazz styles, including West Side Story themes.

Two Fires Break Out Sunday in Stamford
Stamford fire crews battled two Sunday night fires. The first at 314 W Davenport in a closet caused minor damage. A second blaze at 608 W McHarg razed two vacant structures including a sheet iron building and a frame residence, totaling 4000 in loss, with a telephone line also damaged. Cause of both fires is undetermined.

County Democrats Set Spring Primary Cost in Johnson County
Jones County Democratic Executive Committee met Monday to fix an estimated spring primary cost. Claude Green 27 of Rit 2 was reported improving Tuesday at John Sealy Hospital Galveston after injuries from a Feb 6 auto collision. Paul Buchanan owner of the Holiday Lodge in Hamlin sues St. Paul Mercury Insurance in 104th District Court at Anson seeking 9000 for damages after a jet penetrated the sound barrier on December 17, 1964. National Guard Practice Alert Called Successful
A regional National Guard alert was declared a success as Stamford units reported within 30 minutes. Within two hours 46 of 52 Stamford guardsmen were in combat uniforms and ready to move. One Escapee Still Free From Jones County Jail Break
Six inmates escaped the Jones County jail in Anson on February 8. By Wednesday morning all but one were captured. Mickey Ray Jett, 18, was arrested in Abilene after police found him in his attic. Charles Brogdon, 32, of Aspermont, remains at large. Authorities suspect he fled after others were recaptured. Clark Gary Bryan and Franklin J. Jansonette Woolf were captured near Hamlin by Mexican and local police respectively.

Stonewall County 4H and FFA livestock show will be held Saturday February 19 with judging by Knox County agent Joe Doby starting at 9 o'clock. Over 100 animals compete for about $750 in prize money. The event is funded by donations and a barbecue run by the local chamber of commerce. J D Patterson Jr donated the beef for the noon meal served 12 to 1. Everyone is invited.
